Myopia Management
Childhood myopia (or nearsightedness) is an epidemic in our country and worldwide. If your child is myopic, we would love to talk about myopia management options. Childhood myopia is likely to progress, which not only means stronger glasses, but potential ocular health problems in the future like retinal detachments, glaucoma, or myopic macular degeneration. While glasses are essential for clear vision, other options may be necessary to reduce your child’s myopic progression. Dr. Wood is certified to fit MiSight contact lenses, an FDA-approved option for myopia management.
Infant and Toddler exams
How do you know if your child’s vision is developing correctly? Don’t worry, we do! As a pediatric optometry trained doctor, Dr. Wood is comfortable seeing children of all ages. We recommend a child’s first eye exam at 6-8 months old. If your child has not yet had a comprehensive vision exam from a trained eye professional, please consider bringing them in. Children are great at hiding eye problems!
Dr. Wood is an InfantSEE® provider. Any baby under 12 months of age is eligible for a comprehensive vision exam. Early detection is key!
